Why this project exists

Where Should We Meet Up? is a personal project from Salma Group Inc. that began because my friends and I live all around Atlanta, and finding a fair place to meet was harder than it should be. I made the tool available for anyone who has the same problem.

Our privacy promise

Where Should We Meet Up? does not sell personal information, build advertising profiles, or use where you live and what you plan with friends for advertising. Information is used only to operate the features you choose to use, protect the service, and find fair meeting places.

Information handled by the app

• Unshared plans: Friend names, addresses, coordinates, activity choices, weekly availability, and search terms are saved in your browser so your draft remains available on that device.
• Shared groups: Shared groups are collaborative. Anyone with the group link or code can view the group. Each person adds their own name, location, and optional availability. The app stores a one-way hash of a claim token for that row so only the device that added the row can edit or remove it. Hangout plan folders (saved places the group wants to visit) are stored with the shared group.
• Optional accounts: If you sign in with email, we store your email, home city, and profile details you choose to save so they can travel across friend groups. Sign-in uses a one-time magic link sent by email. You can delete your account in Settings at any time.
• Map requests: Locations, place searches, photos, and route endpoints are sent to Google Maps Platform to provide address suggestions, nearby places, and drive times.
• Usage metering: The app logs limited usage events (such as searches and drive-time lookups) so free and Pro monthly allowances can be enforced and abuse can be limited.
• Technical information: The hosting platform may process information such as IP addresses, browser details, and request logs. The app also temporarily uses IP addresses for rate limiting and abuse prevention.

Who can see a shared group

A shared group does not require an account. Anyone who has its hard-to-guess group code can view friend names, locations, availability, activity choices, and hangout plan folders. Only the device that claimed a location row can edit that row. Someone who has joined the group on their device can also update shared settings and permanently delete the group after confirming the group code. Share group links and codes only with people you trust.

Service providers

Where Should We Meet Up? relies on Google Maps Platform for map, place, and route information; Neon for database storage; Vercel for hosting; Resend for sign-in emails; and Stripe for optional Pro checkout on the website. Those providers process information under their own privacy policies. The project does not currently use third-party advertising or behavioral analytics.

Data choices and retention

You can clear an unshared plan at any time with Clear this planin the app, or by removing this site's local browser data. That removes the draft from your device.

On a shared group, clearing local browser data removes the claim token that lets this device edit your location row. The shared group data remains until a joined member deletes the group. Delete shared group and datapermanently removes the group name, friend locations, hangout plan folders, and related shared data from the live database, and the group code stops working. Deletion is irreversible. Infrastructure backups operated by hosting providers may continue to exist for a limited retention period under those providers' schedules.

Signed-in accounts can download a copy of account and owned-group data with Download my data in Settings, or be permanently deleted with Delete my account. Deletion removes your email account, sessions, and usage meters. Pins you already placed in shared groups remain until you remove them or the group is deleted.

Place search, drive-time lookups, and place photos require a signed-in account so monthly free/Pro allowances stay accountable. You can still view or join a group with only the invite code.

Paid features

The core planner works on a free allowance. Optional Pro is offered as a yearly upgrade (higher search and lookup caps, any meeting city). On the website, Pro is purchased through Stripe. In the iOS and Android apps, Pro upgrades are handled in a store-compliant way (for example, upgrading on the website until in-app purchases ship). Prices and terms are shown before you pay.

Changes to this policy

This policy may change as the project grows. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “last updated” date.
